A group of Eastern history majors were recently inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha, Eastern's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society for the study of history.

A number of Eastern Connecticut State University students recently presented research projects at the 14th Annual Excellence Expo. The event is sponsored by the School of Education/Professional Studies and Graduate Division.

"To Be Determined," Eastern Connecticut State University's visual arts award ceremony, took place at the end of the spring semester.

Eastern's chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing and information disciplines, held its annual induction ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its spring 2014 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. The following local students have achieved this honor:

The Communication Department's annual Celebration of Excellence took place at the end of the spring semester. A number of students were inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society for communication.

Eastern Connecticut State University's Department of Health and Physical Education held its annual awards ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Students were given awards in recognition of academic excellence at the event.

Eastern Connecticut State University held its 14th Annual Arts and Sciences Research Conference and Exhibition at the end of the spring semester. The event featured oral and visual presentations of student-led scientific research and artwork. More than 50 presentations were delivered by students from a range of academic departments.

The following students have been named to Dean's List at Western New England for the spring semester of 2014. Students are named to the Dean's List for achieving a semester grade point average of 3.30 or higher.

The following local residents are among those to be named to the Roger Williams University Dean's List for the Spring 2014 semester. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Recognizing outstanding student academic achievement, Assumption College has named more than 520 students to the undergraduate Dean's List for the fall 2013 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Assumption students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester.

The following students were named to the Castleton College Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2013-14 academic year. To qualify for this academic honor, the student must maintain full-time status and a semester grade point average of 3.5.

The following students were named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Winter/Spring All-Academic Team. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing, have competed in a minimum two years of varsity competition at their institution with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following local students have been named to the Dean's List for Spring 2014.

Assumption College's 97th Commencement ceremony was held on May 17 on the campus's H.L. Rocheleau Field, where 463 Bachelor of Arts degrees; 217 graduate studies degrees (Master of Arts and Master of Business Administration) and certificates; and 35 Continuing and Career Education degrees (Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, and associates) were awarded.

Nearly 1,100 students graduated from the University of Hartford during its Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 18.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.
